Frequently Asked Questions

Good question! A Hot Shot is someone who loves photography and cares about getting things right. That doesn't mean they're an expert or they never make mistakes - it means they're passionate about learning more all the time and improving their skills. Someone who wants to capture beautiful things they see, express their creative vision, and share stunning images with the world. When you join this course, you'll become a Hot Shot and get to join our exclusive Hot Shots' Community. You can swap advice and constructive criticism with other passionate photographers, and share the beautiful photos you create during the course. We all can't wait to meet you!
Well, yes and no. If you watch all my videos, make notes and never actually get out there with your camera, you won't get very far! There is definitely no substitute for hands-on practice. However, my course will give you all the knowledge and tools you need to develop your photography skills in the field. I'll guide you through all the practical exercises and challenges you need to do to improve your skills and familiarize yourself with the new concepts and techniques we'll learn. Plus, you'll be able to get advice and constructive criticism from me and a ton of other passionate photographers in our exclusive Facebook community! Learning online will also save you a lot of time compared to an in-person class - and that means you'll have more time and energy for that all-important practice!
Nope! The techniques and settings we'll learn about apply to all forms of digital photography. Whatever kinds of subject you're interested in, this course will help you take impressive, beautiful shots. As a travel photographer, I do a lot of landscape and wildlife photography, so you'll see a lot of those photos used as examples. But I definitely don't restrict myself to those subjects - I like taking photos of anything and everything, and soon you'll be able to as well!
You do need a digital camera - but don't worry, a basic entry-level camera will be just fine to develop your photography skills and take beautiful photos. There are a couple of other pieces of equipment you'll need to look after your camera and photos, like a camera bag and memory cards. Other than that, it's up to you how much you want to invest in gear. You're best off getting started with a few cheap, basic pieces of equipment and figuring out what else you might want as you go along.
Definitely! Everything is broken up into small, manageable chunks and you can do as much as you have time for, whether that's 15 minutes a week or a few hours. By learning online, you can save a ton of time and learn at your own pace. More practice is always good, but if you can only devote a small amount of time to photography, you'll still be able to make steady progress and take some awesome shots! Once you've got your head around a few basic concepts, it's amazing how quickly it all comes together.
Any kind of digital camera with manual controls is fine! As long as you can adjust your own settings, you'll be able to use the techniques we learn in this course.
It isn't an official qualification, but all hot shots who complete the course will receive something special! You'll have to wait and see what ;)
"Nope! This course is suitable for anyone, even complete beginners. I don't assume any advance knowledge about art or photography - we'll start by figuring out where all the settings are on your camera, and go from there! Some people think that to be a good photographer you just have to be born with an 'eye' for it, but I totally disagree. Of course some photographers are particularly talented, but anyone can learn to take technically correct and visually beautiful shots. You just need to learn a few simple tricks, and then practise applying them in the real world. Soon it will all become second nature!
No problem! Just contact my team any time within the first 30 days and we'll give you a full refund, no questions asked. I'm confident you're going to love this course and have a fantastic time developing your photography skills, but if for any reason you don't, I'm happy to give you your money back.
